This group of documents is meant to be a mini-digital archive that is intended to illuminate a number of perspectives on American missionaries in Puerto Rico. Some of these documents are written by Americans and therefore reflect how Americans viewed the work of missionary groups in Puerto Rico. Others were written by the missionaries themselves, and therefore show how missionaries viewed their own work on the island. Others still were written or created by converted Puerto Ricans who participated in and believed in the missionary cause. While you look through these sources, consider the differing perspectives of the authors and try to understand where they overlap and where they converge.
